JAKARTA — The 2026/2027 Implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS). From Monday, July 13, to Friday, July 17, 2026, SMPN 136 Jakarta was conducting the MPLS Ramah (Friendly MPLS) program under the theme Creating a clean, safe, inclusive, and comfortable environment for new students, which is different from last year.

A closer look reveals significant differences between this year’s MPLS and the 2025 edition.

Focus on Health and Physical Fitness on Day 2. Unlike last year, which lacked a fitness assessment, this year’s MPLS required the determination of Body Mass Index (BMI) and physical flexibility testing on the second day. This serves as a preventive measure to ensure every child is in prime condition for learning.

Holistic Mapping Through 3 Key Tests in Day 3. The most striking change was seen in the testing conducted on the third day. While students in 2025 took only one test (Reading Literacy & Numeracy) lasting 60 minutes, students in 2026 participate in a series of three tests over 90 minutes. These tests cover Social-Emotional Skills & Learning Concentration; Literacy & Numeracy; Talents & Interests

Interestingly, All data is managed directly by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education’s centralized system. The Principal of SMPN 136 is required to complete an online evaluation to download the test result reports, which are now presented in full detail for each student alongside a school-wide summary via the “MPLS Ramah” System.

The Culminating Event on the last day, the students were not only entertained by the perfoming some shows from the extracurricular but also this year SMPN 136 hosted a “Showcase” event. This occasion is not merely a celebration but serves as the final step in mapping student profiles at the end of the orientation period. At this stage, new students are encouraged to freely and safely express themselves and demonstrate their interests and potential.

By strengthening the governance of the “Safe and Comfortable School Culture” early detection system—implemented from day one—the “Friendly Student Orientation Period” (MPLS Ramah) at SMPN 136 aims to break the cycle of bullying and violence in schools. This transformation of the orientation framework stands as tangible proof of the government’s and the school’s commitment to welcoming new students with open arms, empathy, and measurable data.
