School should be a safe and enjoyable place to learn. However, bullying can sometimes overshadow the joy of our teenage years. At SMPN 136, you don’t have to face this alone. Through a powerful synergy between our teachers and the Student Council (OSIS), our school has established the Violence Prevention and Handling Team (TPPK) as the frontline for student protection.

Here are five smart and courageous steps you can take if you encounter or witness bullying at school:

  1. Demonstrate Courage and Confidence

Bullies typically target those who appear vulnerable or easily intimidated. Try to remain calm and maintain an upright, confident posture. If possible, express your displeasure firmly without resorting to aggression. Showing that you are not intimidated often causes bullies to lose interest.

  1. Do Not Respond with Violence

While you may feel the urge to retaliate, responding with physical violence or insults will only escalate the situation and may result in disciplinary action against you. Strive to be the better person; focus on self-protection rather than revenge.

  1. Seek Support from Your Peers (Positive Circles)

Avoid isolating yourself. Surround yourself with friends who have a positive influence. Bullies are often reluctant to bother students who have strong social support. If you see a friend being bullied, be an “upstander”—stay by their side and help them report the incident.

  1. Coordinate with the SMPN 136 TPPK Team

This is the most crucial step. At SMPN 136, you should never be afraid to speak up. Our TPPK Team is a unique collaboration between teachers and OSIS officials.

  • Why report to TPPK? This team is trained to listen without judgment. Having OSIS members on the team ensures that student voices are understood from a peer perspective, while teachers provide the formal authority needed to ensure your safety.
  • How to Report: You can approach an OSIS representative on the TPPK team or go directly to the Counseling Room (BK) to speak with a teacher. All reports are kept strictly confidential.
  1. Preserve Evidence (For Cyberbullying)

If bullying occurs digitally, do not delete the messages immediately. Save screenshots as evidence. These can be submitted to the TPPK Team or school authorities to help them take effective action.

Remember: Reporting bullying is not “tattling” or a sign of weakness; it is a courageous act that helps create a healthier school environment for everyone. The SMPN 136 TPPK Team is here because we care about your safety and your future.

Stop Bullying, Start Caring!
